You would see kids constantly following trends and people with no sense of purpose, or their only purpose being to fit in. This lack of purpose caused me to develop a program, which is geared toward helping them become better people and targets many of our kids needs in a school environment.

I have watched kids turn to gangs, other social groups, or fade into solitude feeling like they have no other alternative. Why do kids join gangs? I know some reasons all too well because I have been approached by a gang in the past. They promise you hope and play into your dreams of having or needing money, respect, love, and protection. It is like a dream come true but they do not tell you the price you pay to join and be involved in a gang. Many times you pay with your life, figuratively or literally!

As I observe this generation of youth at various institutions, there is a continual problem that remains at the forefront of my efforts that is our kids are loosing their identity. How can I help save a generation that have no clue they are lost? By creating a program called Positive Imprint, which instills values that are important for every child in their growth and development to becoming great citizens.

Positive Imprint gives them the power to control their future and educates them on the opportunities they have to make a greater impact on others lives. PI’s motto is “if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.” I use life experiences from my journey and things that have impacted me significantly with the youth.

For example, my experience modeling taught me self-awareness, playing a sport taught me to face my fears, and drama and dance both taught me to express myself to the point of feeling free.

The program gives our youth an opportunity to express themselves without the constant judgment. Our kids understand the values and goals that are instilled in them are more important than performing. Once our kids are engaged in the PI program, the benefits can be seen with their progress both in academics and behavior. The goal is to make a positive imprint in the lives of many people all over the world. Contributing to an environment where every child develops the hope and love they need to grow.
